Eye Bank

Our Eye Bank is a most modern one and is working round the clock.The eye Bank activity has started since 2 October 2005.
Eye Bank services have emerged as top in Pune region and third in Maharashtra state. Government of Maharashtra felicitated our Eye Bank for the work for maximum collection of eyes. It is very well equipped with cornea processing unit and Specular Microscope both tissue as well as live model. We can select better quality cornea with the help of specular microscope resulting in sucess rate of impact in patients.

India has around 628 Eye Banks out of which in Sept. 2010 , H. V. Desai Eye Bank was chosen by Eye Bank Association of India (EBAI) for the accreditation program along with 8 other Eye Banks of the country; the only one from Maharashtra. This program was undertaken by Sight Life , USA a collaboration institution of Eye Bank Association of America , along with EBAI to standardize and regulate the functioning of the various Eye Banks in India.

The eye donation appeal has been done for awareness, but the credit should go to Shri Kumarbhai Shah, who has played major role in inducing eye donation.
