Department of Retina

Department of Vitroretina has been existing in H. V. Desai Eye Hospital since 2003. The department has all the latest equipments like Digital fundus camera, ultrasound, B- scan , Double frequency YAG laser, Diode laser; for operation theater services there is accurus vitrectomy machine.
All types of cases like diabetic retinopathy, Retinal vascular diseases, posterior uveitis , Age related macular degenerations, Retinopathy of prematurity, etc are routinely seen and treated regularly.
The department is regularly carrying out treatments like vitrectomy surgeries, Retinal detachment surgeries, Macular hole surgeries, Suture less vitrectomies. Intraviteal injections of antiVEGF’s ( Lucentis , Macugen , Avastin) for diseases like ARMD Retinal Vein occlusions with macular oedema , PDR, DME are regularly being carried out at affordable cost.
The department has been recognized by Govt. of India as a laser training center. There is a two months training program in indirect ophthalmoscopy and laser treatment available at H. V. Desai Eye hospital.
There are three Medical Retina consultant namely Dr. Sucheta Kulkarni, Dr. Kuldeep Dole, Dr. Nilesh Kakade and two vitroretina surgeons Dr. Salil Gadkari and Dr. Ajay Tammewar working in the department of Retina.
